To all Prospective Members:
Thank you for your interest in joining the ranks of Ridgeway District Volunteer Fire Department. The Ridgeway Fire Department has been in existence since 1957 and have covered one of the biggest areas in Henry County. We currently service this area with two stations, one on Magnolia Street and one on Joseph Martin Highway. This allows us to respond to various parts of the Ridgeway District in a timely manner. We take pride in the professional manner in which each and every one of our volunteers handle themselves. Our monthly business meetings are held on the third Thursday of every month. Anyone wishing to become a member is required to attend a meeting and fill out an application at that time.
If you are applying for junior membership, you must be 16 years of age with a parent’s written permission. Also we encourage the parent(s) to attend the meeting with the junior member hopeful. A junior member MUST maintain at least a “C” average in their schoolwork, be in good standing in the community and live inside the Ridgeway district.
Anyone wishing to join active membership, must be 18 years or older, have a valid Virginia driver’s license, be able to pass a background check, and live inside the Ridgeway district. Once you attend a meeting, you will be free to attend any meetings, work details and training sessions in the first 30 days but you will not be able to run any calls related to the fire department. After the first 30 days, your application will then be voted upon and if accepted you will then be able to run fire related calls.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Ridgeway Fire Chief, Cotton Trent, at 276-732-4854. We look forward to working with you and hope to see you at our next business meeting.
