Thank for showing an interest in joining our fire department You may contact us through the departments phone number or contacting any member of the fire department, and they can get you in touch with a line officer, or you may show up at the station for our regular business meeting on the 4th Thursday of each month except for November and December which is on the 3rd Thursday due to the holidays at 7:30.

First we will have you fill out an application for the department for the type of membership you want. A line officer will talk to you and answer any questions you may have at that time. Your application will be submitted to the membership at the business meeting and to the Board of Directors. A back ground check will be done and references may be called and checked on after that meeting. When the back ground check comes back your application will be discussed, and voted on by the Board of Directors at the next business meeting.

A prospective member is encouraged to come around the fire department anytime they can to meet other members and help out around station, this can be important so board members will know who they are voting on.



Anyone 18 and older, living in the Horsepasture or nearby area may be eligible for membership, in accordance with our by-laws, which will be discussed with you by a line officer when you fill out the application.

REGULAR MEMBER: Required to take fire fighter 1 and NIMS training within the first 18 months of being in the fire department. They will be responsible for fighting fire and other strenuous activities associated with firefighting.

ASSOCIATE MEMBER: May take training in accordance to what they want to do. If they want to fight fire or be on a fire scene they must take there NIMS training and any other training deemed necessary by the Chief or the department.

If they just want to help with fund raisers or around the station, no training is required.

JR. MEMBERS: May join at age 15. They may take training after age 16 with signed consent of a parent. They may help on scene, and do exterior firefighting after training. They MAY NOT do interior firefighting till age 18 when they transfer out of the JR. membership.


No one is allowed to drive a truck till after they complete EVOC, and have been trained on how to pump the trucks and checked off by a line officer.
