In the summer of 1971, a group of interested citizens in the Sanville and County Line areas gathered to organize a fire department and rescue squad. After obtaining a tract of land which the building is now located, the group began raising funds. In 1972, the department purchased its first apparatus. The original idea of organizing a rescue squad as part of the fire department in 1971, never really got off the ground, but now they do provide valuable emergency medical services as the first respond to life-threatening and potentially life-threatening emergencies.
